Burhanpur Shines on the International Stage: Volleyball and Athletics Players Selected for Nepal Tournament
Burhanpur: A wave of pride and excitement has spread through Burhanpur as talented players from the district have been selected to represent India in upcoming international volleyball and athletics competitions to be held in Nepal. These young athletes earned their place through exceptional performances in the recently concluded national-level tournament held in Gwalior.

1. Volleyball and Athletics Players Selected
In the Under-19 Volleyball category, the selected players are Jyoti Dashore, Devyani Mahajan, Dhruv Kumrawat, Manthan Dhamanodkar, Manish Palvi, and Jayshiva Jadhav. In the Athletics category, Rahul Kapse and Prashant Sonawane have been chosen to represent the district. All selections were made under the auspices of the Indian Games and Sports Federation of India.
2. International Event in Nepal
The international competition will take place in Nepal from November 19 to 26, where these players will proudly represent Burhanpur and India on the global stage. Their achievements mark a significant milestone for the district’s growing sports culture.
3. Felicitation and Community Support
To celebrate this success, the Ahilyadevi Mandal organized a felicitation event where the players were honored with garlands and sweets. The Mandal President, Amol Bhagat, expressed immense pride, stating that both sons and daughters of Burhanpur are making their mark in various fields through hard work and perseverance.
4. Message of Inspiration
“It is a matter of pride for our district that, along with the sons, daughters are also making their mark in every field. This success will serve as a source of inspiration for the youth of Burhanpur,” said Amol Bhagat. Coach Mamta Dev added that when the team met Collector Harsh Singh, he congratulated the players and announced an incentive of ₹25,000 to encourage their efforts.
Several dignitaries and sports enthusiasts including Gajendra Patil, Balraj Navani, Ishwar Chauhan, Chintaman Mahajan, Bharat Marathe, Ankit Vyas, Kamlesh Dalal, Ganga Tayde, Kalpana Dalal, Sandeep Mahajan, Bhimraj Mahajan, Chetan Shah, Dilip Choure, Hitesh Bhagve, Akash Waghmare, Rajesh Khatri, and Jitendra Pardeshi were present during the felicitation ceremony.
