Masterstroke by MP Gyaneshwar Patil and Nepanagar MLA Manju Dadu: CM Starts Weather-Based Crop Insurance for Banana Farmers

Banana Farmers Thank CM as Weather-Based Crop Insurance Process Begins

1. Introduction

Bhopal / Burhanpur: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that the process for implementing a weather-based crop insurance scheme has begun. He assured that farmers will soon receive good news, bringing hope to thousands of banana growers in Madhya Pradesh.

2. Delegation Meets Chief Minister

Khandwa Lok Sabha MP Gyaneshwar Patil and Nepanagar MLA Manju Rajendra Dadu took a major initiative in support of banana farmers who have been demanding insurance coverage for years. The two leaders led a delegation of farmers from Burhanpur and Khandwa to Bhopal, where they met the Chief Minister and presented their concerns.

3. CM’s Assurance to Farmers

The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the government is committed to protecting the interests of farmers and that work on the weather-based crop insurance scheme is already underway.

4. Farmers’ Demands and Losses

Banana farmers expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister, MP, and MLA, saying — “Thank you for taking our voice to the government.” The MP also demanded that banana crops be purchased at Minimum Support Price (MSP) in the Khandwa and Burhanpur districts.

MP Gyaneshwar Patil and MLA Manju Rajendra Dadu informed the Chief Minister that for several years, banana farmers in Burhanpur — Madhya Pradesh’s largest banana-producing district — have been facing heavy financial losses due to storms, strong winds, and unseasonal rains that destroy standing crops worth crores of rupees every year.

5. Future Plans and Hopes

With Shivraj Singh Chouhan now serving as the Union Agriculture Minister, and Dr. Mohan Yadav leading the state as a farmer-friendly Chief Minister, banana farmers are confident that a crop insurance scheme modeled after Maharashtra’s will soon be implemented across Madhya Pradesh.

6. Delegation Members

The delegation included Kishore Vasankar, Kiran Mahajan, Mayur Patil, Ujjwal Chaudhary, Arun Thakur, Sachin Mahajan, Shubham Patil, Swapnil Mahajan, and others.
